Miniature food tutorial

I found a tutorial for these enchanting cakes at We Bloom Here and they were such fun to make. However, I felt that I can't just have cakes in the dolls house - that is not very healthy! So I began thinking of other food that I could make, which was just as easy as the cakes! So below are tutorials for making pizza, burgers, sandwiches and cookies. Best of all, you only need scraps of felt, some beads, buttons and thread.

Pizza

You will need a large button for the plate. Cut out a circle of felt in a pale brown colour for the pizza base.
Gather together a variety of beads, in colours that are appropriate for pizza toppings... eg red, orange, brown, yellow, green.
Stitch the beads onto the pizza base. If young children will be playing with them, it is a good idea to double stitch every third/fourth bead, to keep it secure. Keep going until you have filled up your pizza base.
Attach to the button, stitching through the beads and down through the button to secure it. Take your thread down to the middle, between the button and the pizza base, and tie off.

Sandwiches

Cut a triangle shape out of cream/ pale brown felt, and use it to help you cut a second triangle the same size. Then cut out another triangle in a colour appropriate for your sandwich filling. I like cheese sandwiches! The dollar coin is there to give you some idea of how tiny the triangles are.
Layer your sandwich with the filling in the middle. Tie a knot in the end of your thread, and beginning in the filling of the sandwich, pull your thread through to the top layer, then down through to the bottom layer. Secure with a few stitches and tie off in the middle layer, to hide the thread.

Hamburgers!

To get an idea of how big to make the burger, I used a button for size. I used the larger button as my plate, and found a slightly smaller button which was the perfect size for the burger.
Place the burger sized button on your felt to cut around. You will need to cut 2 x circles of pale brown felt (for the burger bun); and then other colours as appropriate. I used dark brown for the burger pattie; yellow for cheese; green for lettuce; red for tomato.
Tie a knot in your thread; starting in one of the middle layers, pull your thread up to the top layer and down to bottom layer. Repeat several times. I used small stitches so the the stitches would resemble sesame seeds. Attatch the burger to the button, threading through the burger, down to the button, and back up a few times. Tie off and secure your thread in the middle of your burger.

Cookies

As with the pizza and burger, I found an appropriate sized button to place on my felt and cut around. Cut out two circles in your preferred cookie colour; and one circle in a different colour for the filling.
Tie a knot in your thread; starting in the centre layer of your cookie, pull your thread up to the top of the cookie and back down to the bottom. Repeat several times. Take thread down to the middle layer of your cookie, tie off and secure.

Cakes

I am not doing a tutorial for the cakes, as you can find the tutorial on We Bloom Here's blog, which is where I was first inspired.  These sweet little cakes were so much fun to make!
